Study Visa Italy
Appeal. Succeed. Study.
From your first consultation to your court representation and beyond, our legal team supports you at every stage of the study visa appeal process in Italy. We ensure your appeal is sound, strong, and positioned for success — so you can focus on your studies, not the bureaucracy.
When your place is confirmed but your visa isn’t
You’ve been accepted to study in Italy — perhaps at a top university, language school, or professional program. You’ve passed the exams, paid tuition deposits, and maybe even started planning your move.
Then comes the obstacle: the visa is delayed, questioned, or outright denied. Without it, you can’t enter Italy, start your studies, or secure housing.
For many students, this is where dreams stall. For us, this is where we step in.
Our role: Legal advocacy for students
At My Lawyer in Italy, we’re not a generic visa service. We’re a team of accredited Italian attorneys fluent in English and based in Italy, ready to defend your right to study here. We help in two ways:
1. Legal and financial review of visa denial
We review your situation, application and refusal to ensure your appeal is strong, sound, and strategically prepared.
2. Court representation
If your student visa has been refused or delayed without valid reason, or you cannot get a consulate appointment, we can challenge the decision with the consulate or in Italian court without you needing to be here in person.

Understanding the Italian Student Visa Process
Your Crucial First Step:
Confirm requirements first. Specific requirements can vary significantly based on your nationality, your course of study, and the specific Italian consulate. We strongly advise you confirming the latest requirements with the relevant consular authority before you begin your application.
Step 1 — Secure Acceptance from an Accredited Italian Institution
You must be formally accepted into a recognized Italian university, accredited language school, vocational training program, or professional course. An official letter of enrollment or pre-enrollment is required.
Step 2 — Prepare All Required Documentation
Italian consulates typically require:
- A valid passport (with adequate validity beyond your intended stay)
- Enrollment confirmation from the Italian institution
- Proof of sufficient financial means (generally at least €460 per month of stay)
- Proof of accommodation in Italy
- Comprehensive health insurance valid in Italy
- Completed visa application form and recent passport-style photographs
Step 3 — Submit Your Application to the Italian Consulate
File your complete application with the Italian consulate in your home country, following their appointment booking and document submission procedures.
Step 4 — Application Review and Processing
Processing times can take up to 90 days. Consulates may request additional documentation, clarifications, or in-person interviews.
Step 5 — Enter Italy and Apply for a Residence Permit
Upon receiving your visa, enter Italy and apply for a permesso di soggiorno per motivi di studio (residence permit for study purposes) within 8 working days at the local Questura. Bring documentation consistent with your visa application.
